Introduction to Queen Sized Bed:

After the introduction of the king bed size in the 19th century. There was a huge demand rising for an intermediate bed size between the king size and the standard double size that could suite the middle class taller people. Queen sized beds were introduced in the mid-20th century by the Americans as a luxury bed size referring to a medieval title of a queen. In the mid-1950s, the U.S furniture industry introduced a new bed size as the queen bed size that was introduced as compared to the previous king bed size previously introduced.


Queen size dimensions in trend:

This bed size became more suitable for tall consumers for not having their toes fall out of bed. With its spacious dimensions of 60 inches wide and 80 inches long, the queen sized bed holds the major market share for tall adults due to its cost effective price as compared to the king size. Many nonstandard queen sizes were also introduced in the furniture market as experiments that did not proved quite successful as the standard queen size dimensions.

Olympic Queen Size Bed:

This terminology was developed by the Americans and is also more commonly referred to as the king size too. The UK queen size is quite more spacious than the American queen size with its 66 inches wide and 80 inches long. It becomes the perfect bed size for adult couples.

California Queen Size Bed:

This terminology is also used by the Americans referring to a bed size slightly larger than the standard queen size as 64 inches wide and 80 inches long. This terminology is not used in UK as any bed size. This bed size is mostly used for waterbed mattresses.

Split Queen Size:

The split queen size is the standard queen size that is split into two halves of 30 inches of width and 80 inches of length to suite the bed size for various needs and purposes.
